Using administrative data to improve labour market statistics
This project aims explores the opportunities offered by government data to achieve a fuller understanding of labour market flows and earnings mobility. It uses four years of HMRC PAYE data, covering the entire working population of the UK. Administrative data offer the potential to examine transitions over extended periods of time and for small population subgroups.
An important part of this project is to understand the implications of problems associated with the use of such datasets and to identify ways of mitigating them.
